Description
Presented is a 14 .5″ x 24″ yellow official terrible towel autographed by Chuck Noll and inscribed “HOF 83”. He signed it in black felt tip (“8”).
The Terrible Towel has been a Steelers Nation staple since the 1970s, the History of the Luckiest Towel in Sports. The Terrible Towel was created by the late Myron Cope, the
Pittsburgh Steelers broadcaster who needed a way to excite the team’s fans during a 1975 playoff football game against the
Baltimore Colts. Cope urged fans to take yellow dish towels to the game and wave them throughout.
Charles Henry Noll was an American professional football player and head coach. Regarded as one of the greatest head coaches of all time, his sole head coaching position was for the Pittsburgh Steelers of the National Football League (NFL) from 1969 to 1991. When Noll retired after 23 years, only three other head coaches in NFL history had longer tenures with one team.
