Description
In 1960 the newly named Silver Beatles played without a permanent drummer. When their manager, Allan Williams, secured a tour of Hamburg, it was time to fill the vacant post. The Beatles chose Pete Best, a local drummer who was building up a reputation with the Liverpool club-goers. In August, 1960, The Beatles asked Best to audition and later offered him the postion. He accepted and the rest of the story is history.
Offered are two “The 5th Beatle Limited Edition Portraits” numbered 240 and 241 of the 2,500 limited edition. The original painting was done by American artist, Shane Stover, and is produced by the renown American publishing company, Jim Gardner Productions Communications. This worldwide edition commemorates the third anniversary of “The Press Conference Broadcast Around the World” and the “Maxwell Interview” conducted on July 2, 2002, with the 5th Beatle, Pete Best, to launch Best’ first-ever U.S.A. concert tour with the Pete Best Band.
This digitially scanned, offset printed portrait of The Early Beatles is a historically significant portrait of an era. It honors the bandmates, especially Pete Best, the drummer, known as the 5th Beatle. This portrait is personally signed by Best, alongside the inscription in stone he helped make famous, “Their Names Liveth On Forever.” This extraordinary portrait is also hand-signed by the artist, Shane Stover and measures 18” x 24”. Both prints are accompanied by an original hand-signed and numbered certificate of authentication from the publisher that describes the full story of the 5th Beatle.
