Legendary print makers Currier & Ives created popular and iconic 19th-century American art. The founder Nathaniel Currier – became nationally renowned when his current event prints appeared in the New York Sun – making it the first illustrated newspaper ever published.  Currier partnered with bookeeper James Merritt Ives and the firm created affordable lithographs of American life scenes. These prints are still popular today.

Presented is an original Currier & Ives lithograph titled along the bottom portion, “Indian Town – River St. John.” It measures 10-1/2″ x 12-3/4″ with expected aging and foxing.
