“Demolition Man” Underworld Armor Costume – Vest, Shirt, Pants & Codpiece (Backlot Props)
Demolition Man is a 1993 American science fiction film directed by Marco Brambilla in his directorial debut. The film stars Sylvester Stallone and Wesley Snipes. The film tells the story of two men: an evil crime lord and a risk-taking police officer. Cryogenically frozen in 1996, they are restored to life in the year 2032 to find mainstream society changed and all crime seemingly eliminated.
Presented is a uniform costume worn in the 1993 movie “Demolition Man”. This style of outfit was worn by the people in the Underworld. The outfit also has studio tagging present.
The highlight is the vest and it is composed of a heavy rubber and metal embellishments – the only note in the interior presumably for the actor is written in silver paint pen, “MATT”. It is well distressed with the front portion measuring 19″ top-to-bottom with the length across 20″. The central back features an interesting bulls eye grate style design.
Also included to complete the costume is a grey/green tank top shirt and grey pants. The front of the grey pants features a matching rubber codpiece.
These items originated from the company Backlot Props and Costumes. Backlot Props and Costumes were based in Burbank, California. They warehoused costumes and props from the major movie studios. The company liquidated their assets in 2010 and these were part of the acquisition of tens of thousands of original costumes and props. These are now available for the first time publicly.
