While football players play for the love of the game, there’s a much bigger prize at the end of the rainbow. A Super Bowl championship ring is the true measure of greatness which can validate a career. Superstars such as Ernie Banks, Dan Marino, Jim Kelly, Charles Barkley and Patrick Ewing did everything humanly possible in their sport with the exception of one thing – win a ring. To this day, the notion of not winning a major title takes the slightest bit of luster away from their careers. For a select few athletes, they are able to win the big one and finish on top of their particular sport. For years, John Elway was known as the guy who couldn’t win his final game. Elway silenced his critics by winning Super Bowls in his final two seasons. Super Bowl rings are not only the most expensive to produce but are also the most recognizable piece of jewelry in any sports discipline.

The opportunity is now present to capture one such ring. This one was awarded to running back Derek Loville and traces to Super Bowl XXXIII. In that game, the Broncos took it to the Atlanta Falcons early and often in a 34-19 triumph. Loville rushed two times for eight yards in a backup role. Now to the specifics on this amazing piece of “bling bling.” The men’s 14K yellow gold diamond Super Bowl [size] “12” ring has a gold weight of 70.2 grams with a total diamond weight of 5.00 carats. The top ring mounting measures approximately 29.0 mm x 26.5 mm. The top sides are embossed “World Champions” while the following diamonds are channel set into the top: 20 round full-cut diamonds (total weight of .45 carat) with fancy deep yellow color; two brilliant-cut pear-shaped diamonds (.66 carat); four trilliant-cut diamonds (.25 carat); 16 princess-cut diamonds (.80 carat); two marquis-cut diamonds (.10 carat); and 40 round full-cut diamonds complete the top mounting (.50 carat). Twelve princess-cut diamonds are channel set on both sides of the mounting, each 2.5 mm (1.44 carats). Twenty-two full-cut diamonds are bead-set into the other two sides of the mounting (.44 carat). One side panel reads “Loville” with an NFL crest, and Loville’s “31.” The opposite side has “Denver Broncos, Broncos Falcons 34, 19 Super Bowl XXXIII Back to Back” raised. Two marquis-cut diamonds are prong-set into this panel (.20 carat). The total appraisal of the material is $12,500. A letter from Loville will accompany this one-of-a-kind offering. Loville states that “This is the authentic Super Bowl 33 ring that I earned with the Denver Broncos. I played running back on that team.” The original appraisal will also be forwarded to the winner as well. Definitely one of the flashier Super Bowl rings ever produced from the end of an era for Broncos fans.
