Dit Clapper Cut Signature

SKU: 40495 Category:

Aubrey V. Clapper’s nickname was long synonymous to hockey in Boston; he was given the moniker “Dit” when, as a youngster, he lisped his familiar name, “Vic”…it came out “Dit” and the name stuck. Once he made it to the big leagues, he was a fine player at both ends of the ice – at forward and defense – and selected to All-Star teams at both positions. In only his second season in the NHL, Boston won their first Stanley Cup; Clapper then went on to became the first player to skate in the NHL for twenty seasons.

A life-long member of the Bruins, the club retired his jersey number “5” in 1947. The Hockey Hall of Fame, in turn, waived the customary three-year waiting period, and he was immediately enshrined.

A salute to trong>Dit Clapper is delivered in this 11″ x 14″ matted display with a reprinted black and white photo of one of those early Boston teams (quite likely the 1928-29 Stanley Cup-winning season). But the gem here is a separate index card bearing his autograph. This signing, which could be in fountain pen, is cleanly “trong>9-10”.
