Don Mattingly Game-Used, Signed Bat PSA/DNA GU 8

Don Mattingly was among baseball’s greatest talents in the mid 1980s. The left-handed power hitting first baseman could usually be penciled in for a .300 average, 25+ home runs and over 80 RBIs. This bat was used by Donnie Baseball in 1984-85, when he was emerging in as a superstar. He won the MVP in ’85 and put heavy use into the offered model M110 Louisville Slugger bat (34″ and 34.6 ounces). Blue marks (from ball stampings) consume the barrel, as do cleat marks. The uncracked handle contains a very heavy layering of pine tar. The facsimile signature burned into the barrel is close to becoming unreadable. “23” is written on the knob in black felt tip. Mattingly signed the bat in blue felt tip which rates “9”. PSA/DNA bat authenticator John Taube gave this bat his highest of marks and a final grade of GU 8.
