The AFL established a playoff format for the 1969 season, with the winner in one division playing the runner-up in the other, on January 12. An AFL team won the Super Bowl for the first time, as the Jets defeated the Colts 16-7 at Miami, on January 12 in Super Bowl III. Maynard was a four-time AFL All-Star and played for the Super Bowl III champions. The Jets retired Maynard’s No. 13 in his honor. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame and included on the AFL All-Time Team.

Presented is a New York Jets a white with red and blue strips Riddell Super Bowl 111 mini-helmet autographed by Don Maynard and his number 13. He signed it in black felt tip (“8”).
