The Eagles are an American rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1971. The founding members were Glenn Frey (guitars, vocals), Don Henley (drums, vocals), Bernie Leadon (guitars, vocals) and Randy Meisner (bass guitar, vocals). With five number-one singles, six number-one albums, six Grammy Awards, and five American Music Awards, the Eagles were one of the most successful musical acts of the 1970s. Their albums Their Greatest Hits (1971–1975) and Hotel California rank first and third, respectively, among the best-selling albums in the United States, with 38 million and 26 million album units in sales. The Eagles are one of the world’s best-selling bands, having sold more than 200 million records, including 100 million albums sold in U.S alone. They were ranked number 75 on Rolling Stone’s 2004 list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time.
Timothy Schmit is an American musician, singer, and songwriter. He has performed as the bassist and vocalist for Poco and the Eagles, having replaced bassist and vocalist Randy Meisner in both cases. Schmit has also worked for decades as a session musician and solo artist. In 1998, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of the Eagles.
Presented directly from Tim Schmit’s family, is this this circa 1960 F-11 model acoustic guitar by Goya that he used extensively throughout his career and in the development of his music. It was made by Levin of Sweden for the Goya brand in the United States.
The guitar has seen the years of Tim Schimt’s musical career blossom. For instance, the famous song “I Can’t Tell You Why” featuring words inspired by his wife Noreen and her sister Deborah were developed on this guitar. The guitar not only supplied many hits but was an instant source of practice and inspirational music for fun as well as musical projects.
Interestingly enough, the guitar itself valued at $300 but with Tim’s special touch and inspiration the value is considerably higher.
It includes a provenance letter from the family (Marc Acrich) and family photos included with Tim Schmit appearing in the photos.
“I Marc Acrich was given THE EAGLES Tim Schmidt’s Personal Used and Played GOYA Acoustic guitar by my sister-in-law, Noreen Schmit. I married her sister Deborah. Noreen was married to Tim Schmit of the Eagles. I have provided family pictures to verify that Tim was part of our family. He was first in POCO then the Eagles with Don Henley.
Noreen gave me the GOYA Guitar over 20 years ago. She told me that if I ever needed any money that I could sell the guitar. This was Tim Schmit’s personal nylon string acoustic guitar. It came in original case with a guitar magazine.
The pictures I provided show TIM, NOREEN, (my wife Debora), Emma Davis (my wifes grandmother).”
A personal note from Marc for fun reference was that his wife Deborah and her father ran all of Al Capone’s Casino’s & 885 Club in Chicago. His wife’s mother was a showgirl.
