Early 1980s Steve Carlton Game-Worn Phillies Helmet

It could be argued that Steve Carlton was the greatest left hander ever to scale the mound. As testimony, four CY Young awards can be attributed to the commanding pitcher. While Carlton will always be known for his pitching, he was no slouch at the plate. Carlton, who finished with a .201 lifetime batting average and 13 home runs, wore the offered ABC size 7 3/8 helmet during his tenure with the Phils. An array of scratches and residue appears on the burgundy outer shell. “32” decals appear on the front and verso, and an “ABC” sticker is affixed to the back. The foam headband and cushioning are intact. An amazing piece of memorabilia from one of the toughest lefties in the history of the game.
