Description
By 1951, when this check was written, Ed Barrow was basking in retirement, two years from his Cooperstown induction (which was also two years from his demise). In the course of neutralizing debts, Barrow fully detailed this $25 payment to a local plumbing and heating company in ’51. A very light compacting crease appears toward the right side of the check, traversing his signature. We also report numerous cancellations in the form of punch holes and stampings, all of which only mildly encroach upon the signature. The check, though, shows no mishandling and it was perfectly detached at the perforations. Serving as a splendid rendering of the Hall of Famer’s signing, this one is “9-10” in every respect.
