Ed Dickson was drafted in the third round (70th overall) by the Baltimore Ravens. The pick was one of three that the Ravens acquired in a trade with the Denver Broncos on the first night of the draft on April 22. The Broncos received a first-round pick which was used to select Tim Tebow. Dickson signed a three-year contract on July 2, 2010.
As a backup to veteran Todd Heap, Dickson recorded 11 receptions, 153 yards, and one touchdown. However, the following year marked big changes for Dickson. Heap was released, and Dickson found himself in a battle with Dennis Pitta for the starting job. Also, Dickson switched from #83 to #84 after Lee Evans became a Raven. Dickson was the main starter in 2011, and caught five touchdowns.
Presented is one of Ed Dickson worn practice jerseys. It is from his rookie season in 2010. The Ravens had somewhat of a new look to their practice jerseys in 2010, as the Maryland National Guard added a patch to the Baltimore Ravens practice jerseys. Set on the front left shoulder, the patch comes as part of a sponsorship with the team.
Overall, the jersey shows great wear with thread fraying and some minor soiling. Collar tagging shows it is a 09-48 [year/size]. All identifiers pop on the white jersey in the Ravens three color drop shadow tackle twill colors purple, gold and black. The bottom portion is elasticized for comfort. It displays a great shoulder team patch on the sleeve ends. The back of the shirt was autographed by Dickson in silver paint pen (“9”) with the inscriptions, “Go Ravens, TE’s make plays and Rookie Jersey”.
