In the early ’60s across our nation probably every household on the block at 11:00 p.m. was tuning their black and white TV’s in to watch the The Tonight Show. Carson’s sidekick the announcer of the Tonight Show Ed McMahon with his famous introduction with a drawn-out “Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeere’s Johnny!” The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson is an American late-night talk show hosted by Johnny Carson under the Tonight Show franchise that aired on NBC from October 1, 1962, to May 22, 1992. Johnny Carson of the”Tonight Show” TV host who served America a smooth nightcap of celebrity banter, droll comedy, and heartland charm for 30 years. Johnny Carson passed away peacefully on January 23, 2005, he was 79.

Presented is a “24 X 30” framed display decorated with three color photographs and four signed 3″ X 4″ cuts of the leading cast of the Tonight Show; Johnny Carson, Ed McMaahon, Doc Severinsen, Tommy Newsom.

The top center 9” X 16” photo of Carson and McMahon featuring Carnac the Magnificent role played by Johnny Carson. Carson wore a large feathered turban and a cape. Under the photo is a 3” X 4” signed cut, he signed it “Best Wishes Johnny Carson” in black felt tip pen (“9”).

In the same photo, Ed McMahon the announcer of the Tonight Show is handing Carson a sealed envelope with a question for Carnac the Magnificent to mind read. Under the photo is a 3” X 4” signed cut he signed it “Ed McMahon” in black felt tip pen (“9”).

Carl Hilding “Doc” Severinsen led the band during commercials and while guests were introduced. He joked with Johnny Carson, the show’s host, and developed an amusing habit of wearing gaudy clothing. In his 5″ X 7″ photo in the display Severinsen signed the 3” X 4” cut “Doc Severinsen” with a blue ballpoint pen (“9”).

Tommy Newsom was a saxophone player in the NBC Orchestra on The Tonight Show. Newsom was frequently the band’s substitute director, whenever music director Doc Severinsen was away from the show or filling in for announcer Ed McMahon. Nicknamed “Mr. Excitement” by Johnny Carson. In his 5″ X 7″ photo in the display Newsom signed the 3” X 4” cut “Tomas Newsom” with a blue ballpoint pen (“9”).
