Eddie Van Halen & B.B. King Signed Hard Rock Hotel Las Vegas Folder Opening Night Press Kit – COA JSA

Presented is a press kit folder from the opening of the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino out here in Las Vegas.  The Hard Rock Hotel ultimately opened on the night of March 10, 1995, with a grand opening event attended by various celebrities. The press kit was autographed in black felt tip (“9-10”) on the front cover of the folder by attendees, Eddie Van Halen, B.B. King and Chris Isaak (who added a character doodle).

Peter Morton chose Rev. Al Green to bless the first night of his Hard Rock Hotel-Casino. Warren Beatty, who played the gangster in “Bugsy,” didn’t show, but the celeb list for a launch did include: Nicolas Cage, Jim Belushi, Sandra Bernhard, James Woods, Halle Berry and her ballplayer-husband Dave Justice, tattooed newlyweds Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee, Kelsey Grammer, Jon Lovitz and rocker Johnny “Rotten” Lydon. Even Vegas mainstay Engelbert Humperdinck checked out the digs.

More Hard Rockin’: A crowd of 1,200 guests boogied in the Hard Rock’s cozy music showroom to Green, Melissa Etheridge, Weezer, Duran Duran and Sheryl Crow. The show ended four hours later when B.B. King and Bo Diddley jammed with an all-star band led by Guns N’ Roses’ Duff McKagan, and also featured guest singers Billy Idol, Seal and Iggy Pop. We hear the Eagles entertained another exclusive throng including Jack Nicholson and Super Bowl hero Steve Young a second night over the weekend. Just as important to Morton, probably, the casino floor throbbed with a crowd of young, fashionable gamblers.

This originates from a promotion director at KOMP Radio here in Las Vegas as he was part of the press that was at the Hard Rock opening night.
