This item originates from famous collector Dr. Lonnie Hammargren. Hammargren is a longtime Las Vegas resident since 1969. He was the Lt. Governor of Nevada from 1995-99 and was a candidate for Governor of Nevada in 1998. His eastside home was featured three times on Robin Leach’s: Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous. It was also featured on the Travel Channel’s show Vegas VIP Homes and a HGTV show, What’s With That House? It has since become a museum to Las Vegas past. It is usually open for tours on Nevada Day with 8000 attending the Centennial Celebration in 2005.
Presented is a an unrestored Wizard of Oz poster from a 1955 MGM re-release. The film needs no explanation as it starred Judy Garland as the lovable Dorothy. Other stars included Frank Morgan, Ray Bolger, Bert Lahr, Jack Haley, Margaret Hamilton, Clara Blandick, Charley Grapewin, Billie Burke and of course Terry the Dog. The director was Victor Fleming.
Posters from this release of the movie are quite scarce, probably more rare than posters from the 1939 release. It has a bright color and a nice overall appearance. It features Dorothy and the Lion, Scarecrow and Tin Man. It has signs of use and display wear mostly concentrated on the bottom right side (as seen in the photo). It is in the panoramic style and measures in at a whopping 24×82 in a display. Overall, a classic poster which would highlight any room on display.
Please note, all display pieces are sold as is without regards to the condition of the frame.
