Product Description

Presented are a pair of fight worn trunks used by Floyd Patterson in his fight with Jesse Turner on May 10, 1954 in Brooklyn, New York. This was Patterson’s 13th professional fight. He was a light heavyweight and wore this size and style trunks in the 1954.

The trunks are white satin with black trim at the center waistband and on the piping on each leg. At the center waistband there’s a faded manufacturer’s label for Everlast.  According to Craig Hamilton, “the Everlast label dates to that era and also matches the label on the trunks after reviewing still photographs. The color is also matching to still photographs.”   The trunks show some fading from age and minor staining. There is no size tag, but they are [size] small with a waist size of approximately 34.

The trunks originated from the family of Floyd Patterson and include a separate letter from the family. It reads:

“On May 10, 1954 at the Eastern Parkway Arena in Brooklyn, New York future world heavyweight champion Floud Patterson, still fighting as a light heavyweight, took on Jesse Turner. This was Patterson’s 13th pro fight and he remained unbeaten, winning as 8-round decisions over Turner. We offer here fight-worn trunks used by Patterson. These trunks are white satin with black trim and have a faded manufacturer’s label for Everlast on the front center waistband. The trunks are size small, typical of Patterson at this stage of his career, and have some spot staining, particularly on the front.”
