Kareem Abdul-Jabbar scored more points than any other roundballer. The likes of Wilt the Stilt, His Airness, Bill Russell, Malone and even Magic and Bird all pale in the shadow of the innovator of the skyhook. Abdul-Jabbar scored, scored and scored a little more throughout his remarkable career.
This warm-up jacket was game worn by Jabbar when he was amassing titles with the Lake Show. This game used shooting jacket was from the Lakers 25th Anniversary season in 1984-85. This was during the heyday of Showtime when they were winning titles. Sewn in the collar is their trademark Tiernan tag. The front showcases the Lakers logo on the left chest portion and the bottom right features two large distinctive patches including the 25th Anniversary patch (4×5) and NBA logo (2.75×6). Both patches are sewn on and well worn with thread fraying.
Purple/white trim accents the collar, shoulders, sleeve ends and bottom.”ABDUL-JABBAR” is spelled across the verso in purple/white tackle twill. Overall, the jacket shows tremendous wear with sweat staining (most visible on the collar), soiling marks throughout, thread fraying on patches, pilling etc.
As part of the authentication, we found a photo style match to the jacket as worn by fellow teammate Magic Johnson. It shows both distinctive patches that were worn during the special season. It is indeed one of the finest Abdul-Jabbar game items to hit the marketplace.
