Gene Kelly Signed Portrait
Out of stock
Classic oversized Hurrell-esque portrait of Hollywood’s greatest song and dance man, depicting the handsome star at the height of his Academy Award-winning career. What Gene Kelly did for dancing is akin to what Bill Gates did for computer geeks; he made it cool. (Unlike Astaire, perhaps his only peer, he didn’t dance in top hats and tails on polished floors.) The ex-professional athlete wore chinos and polo shirts, boots and loafers, and above all else, he was a guy. Star (and director) of “Singin’ In The Rain”, “The Pirate” and “An American In Paris”, he was also particularly talented and rates fifteenth on the American Film Institute’s roster of all-time greatest American actors. This was Gene’s favorite image of himself and he’s inked a very large signature to the right of his ear, in the area affording the highest contrast. This is a showpiece and worthy of prominent display.
