Grandpa Al Lewis’ Tuxedo Shirt and Tails from ’60s Sitcom “The Munsters”
Out of stock
On September 24, 1964, CBS-TV introduced a new and very different type of sitcom called “The Munsters.” The element that separated The Munsters from other prime time sitcoms was that they were a family of dysfunctional monsters. The original show ran for 70 episodes and was cancelled after its second season. In syndication the show has been attracting new fans now for five decades. Here offered is the red satin-lined tuxedo jacket, complete with black satin lapels and shirt, that actor Al Lewis wore in his role as “Grandpa.” The white wing-collar tuxedo shirt displays the initials “A.L.” twice in the collar in red ink (of course). The jacket bears no markings or tags nor is there any evidence of removed tags. Our research revealed that the jacket worn by Grandpa in the first season had a red satin lapel. However, the cast’s wardrobe and make-up for the final season was modified and Al Lewis wore a pan style=”font-style: italic;”>black satin lapel. The veracity of these garments lies solely with the opinion of our authenticator. The scarcity of authentic “Munster” props and wardrobe garments is well known and this stunning ensemble is a must for the sincere “Munster” fan.
