Tom Killeen is well known in the film industry as a movie magic specialist. Killeen works behind the scenes of the art department tirelessly. He is known for creating and painting designs that help actors morph into the characters they portray or transforming the entire imaginary world around them. Among many films, he has worked on I Am Legend (2007), Independence Day (1996) and The Chronicles of Riddick (2004).
Presented are items from his personal collection. Some of the items are direct from film sets and others are project models he has worked on. The work on the props and models are beyond hobbyist as these pieces were touched by Killeen who has a highly technical and advanced artist skill. He is now ready to bring his form of art to market and have it appreciated by all the movie buffs or monster collectors out there.
From Killeen’s collection is this House of Dracula John Carradine model kit. It’s unpainted.
He’s the oft overlooked Dracula, John Carradine, captured here in a handsome resin model that’s complete, unbuilt, and boxed. Carradine’s portrayal of Dracula spanned a significant period in the classic Universal horror films, beginning with “House of Frankenstein” in 1944, then again in its sequel of the following year, “House of Dracula.” Carridine’s Dracula was leaner, meaner, and considerably closer to Bram Stoker’s description of the Count than any of his predecessors, celebrated here in resin figure form by Dimensional Designs. The superior sculpture is the work of Sean Sansom who does a fine job of delivering both a solid likeness of Carradine, and an accurate rendition of his wardrobe.
This 1/6 scale kit is cleanly cast in solid white resin, assembling to stand approx. 15″ tall x 10″ wide x 8″ deep, including the stone floor display base. (Drac himself stands 13 3/4″ tall assembled.) And the kit also includes a two head option: tophat or not, as well as two nameplates: “John Carradine” and “House of Dracula.” Like many of Dimensional’s garage kits, Johnny here saw a limited production run – only 300 Drac’s worldwide, most of which have vanished as vampires do.
