Ian Hunter, is an English singer-songwriter and musician who is best known as the lead singer of the English rock band Mott the Hoople, from its inception in 1969 to its dissolution in 1974, and at the time of its 2009 and 2013 reunions. Hunter was a musician and songwriter before joining Mott the Hoople, and continued in this vein after he left the band. He embarked on a solo career despite ill health and disillusionment with commercial success, and often worked in collaboration with Mick Ronson, David Bowie’s sideman and arranger from the The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars period.
Presented is an original concert tour tee shirt from Ian Hunter – In Concert. The black shirt is vintage and measures 16″ across the chest and the 25″ from top of collar seam to bottom. Vintage tagging is Fantasy L with ribbed sleeves. Nice artistic portrait design and no design on back.
This lot is from the T-Shirt collection from the estate of Chuck Landis (aka Largo) veteran promoter, concert best known as co-founder of the Roxy West Hollywood rock club in the early 1970’s and in 1980. Many of the T-Shirts come from performances that were at the venue. They have been locked away for many until now.
The Rox bar was a regular hangout for John Lennon, Harry Nilsson, Alice Cooper and Keith Moon Heidi Fleiss in the 1980s. So you can only imagine what stories can tell?
