Indy 500 Champ Eddie Cheever Race-Worn Driver’s Fire Suit

Eddie Cheever is one of only a few drivers entitled to chug the milk following an Indy 500; the long-time racer took the checkered flag at the 1998 race. In fact, Cheever was the owner of the racing company when he won that thriller. Eddie, we know, once wore this size “L” Simpson suit during a race in the ’90s, but we’re unable to determine precisely which motor contest. A few Getty Images from 1996 resemble this outfit, although there are differences in the patches. A Simpson maufacturer’s logo is sewn in the collar, as is a suspended flag tag. The front is adorned with sponsors’ patches. Though bearing no damage of note (tears or blemishes), the garment shows decent wear and it’s complete.
