Janis Joplin Signed Letter (8) Handwritten Pages – COA JSAGo Back
Out of stock
In the fall of 1965, Janis Joplin was engaged to Peter de Blanc. Presented is an 8-page handwritten letter from Joplin to her fiancee, Peter de Blanc, dated Sept. 6 (no year given but postmarked 1965). She was living with her parents in Port Arthur, Texas at the time. Her fiance was in New York working with IBM computers at the time of her writing. Joplin wrote to him very often and the main concern in the letter is the lack of response on his part to her via letter or by phone call.
It reads in part: “Now, the issues at hand. Please allow me to explain the circumstances. Well you called me last Tuesday – a week from Tomorrow & since then I’ve been waiting for that letter that you said was on the way. And it hasn’t arrived. Now, ordinarily I suppose this wouldn’t have affected me so much except that I’m not in school or anything now. I just sit around & think about you. Everyday seems like a long time without having heard.”
The letter which was originally folded to fit in the envelope (which is numbered 12 also included) is in EX condition. It showcases the beginning stages of the frantic and troubled nature of Joplin. Overall, an insightful collectible from one of the greatest musicians of all time.
