Olympic Champion, World Record Holder, and American Hero. Jesse Owens was the personification of each and much much more. This son of a sharecropper achieved what no previous Olympian had even dreamed, and his stunning victories and four gold medals at the 1936 Berlin Olympic games left a unrivaled legacy and standard of excellence in the face of adversity. Large (4″) heavy pencil signature appears to be signed on the blank flyleaf of a geography textbook, as a map of the world is present on the other side of this heavy stock page. A fitting metaphor and fine example of a vintage Owens signature. 9/10. Also included to complete the vintage display is an original 1936 Wampole’s “World Champions” tradecard celebrating that year’s Gold Medalists, including Jesse Owens. Postcard-sized on cardboard stock, featuring bold vibrant graphics of the era, at rates a solid EX/MT+.
