Jimmie Foxx Signed Baseball w/ Others – COA JSA

The 500 home run club is reserved for only a select few sluggers. Without a doubt the two toughest signatures to obtain from that great group are Jimmie Foxx and Mel Ott. An influx in collectors assembling single-signed baseballs from the 500 home run club makes obtaining a single-signed ball from one of those two players that much more daunting. This one helps the daunting quest in some capacity. It’s an Official American League (Barnard) baseball from the era of 1927-31 and it showcases the autograph of one of the toughies “Jimmie Foxx”.

Consideration of the vintage ball necessarily factors qualifications – principally, that is toned throughout, has approximately 15 total signatures  and the strength of the autograph in black steel tip fountain pen of Jimmie Foxx (who is the real star of this show) is a light but visible “4”.  Ultimately, this one exemplifies a solid example of a Jimmie Foxx autograph that is getting more and more difficult to find.

This ball is from one of the largest and most comprehensive collections of autographed baseballs in the world. All together they were easily displayable in custom shelf form and alphabetically displayed nonetheless. The choice of medium was visually easy for the encyclopedic collector who put these together. It took several decades to amass these rare autographs of the most prominent entertainers, historical figures and sports players.  It proved quite difficult to acquire autographs of non-ballplayers on such an odd object (a baseball) but diligence proved otherwise and that it’s possible. So, now with the collection complete and his shelves empty there’s only one thing left to do….bid on this item and start the challenge to see how far you can take it.
