This item originates from the Roy Moseley collection. Moseley was one of the leaders in show business journalism in England. He wrote many books that appeared on the New York Time’s Best Seller List. Being an author in high regard had its perks, as he was closely connected to royalty and celebrities. Hence his notable work, “My Stars and Other Friends” provides a glimpse into the lifestyle us everyday people dream about. During his career, Moseley brilliantly gathered in person some of the finest autographs in the world. Some were personalized to him as a testament to their respect and kinship. Every celebrity has a story as well as every autograph Moseley obtained. Here now is one of those legacy pieces for your collection.
Presented is an autograph from one of the pages in Moseley’s many albums. This one (4.5″ x 6.25″) splendidly features a signature of John Huston. He signed it in blue pen (“9”) with the terrific inscription, “To Roy.”
He wrote the screenplays for most of the 37 feature films he directed, many of which are today considered classics: “The Maltese Falcon (1941), “The Treasure of the Sierra Madre (1948), “The Asphalt Jungle” (1950), “The African Queen (1951), “The Misfits (1961), “Fat City (1972) and “The Man Who Would Be King (1975). During his 46-year career, Huston received 15 Oscar nominations, won twice, and directed both his father, Walter Huston, and daughter, Anjelica Huston to Oscar wins in different films.
