This Vera Wang original black strapless satin ball gown was worn by Kate Beckinsale during the March 21, 2002 “General Motors pre-Oscar Ten” event at the Hollywood Palladium in California.
The one-of-a-kind spectacular gown has beautiful detailing with a magnificent scalloped hem. The dress is a size 2. The gown has a tulle lining to give it body. The dress is vauled at $20,000.00.
This was the inaugural GM pre-Oscar ten event. The ten event illustrated the connection between automobiles and high- fashion. GM showcased its very own “tens” in production and concept vehicles with strong styling cues and celebrity models who are “tens” in the eyes of the entertainment and fashion worlds walked the runway in equally inspiring fashions. Top designers including Vera Wang, Valentino, Gucci and Badgley Mischka provided couture clothing for the celebrities to model in the fashion show and auction off for charity.
Kate Beckinsale was one of ten celebrities who modeled. Other participants included: Rachel Weisz (Dolce & Gabbana), Christina Applegate (Luella Bartley), Minnie Driver (Valentino), Jane Leeves (Gucci), LeAnn Rimes (Carolina Herrera), Rose McGowan (Christian Dior), Jules Asner (Badgley Mischka), Shiva Rose (Matthew Williamson) and Jane Moloney (Oscar de la Renta).
The celebrities donated their designer outfits for an eBay auction with the proceeds going to their individual chosen charities. Kate Beckinsale’s gown proceeds benefited the National Prevention of Cruelty to Children.
A letter of authenticity from GM detailing the dress and auction will accompany this gown.
