Large Ted Williams Signed “Splendid Splinter” Litho
Out of stock
Ted Williams is portrayed in a familiar spot in this lithograph – “limbering with his lumber”, so to speak, in the on-deck circle. The Splendid Splinter is masterfully captured in this 22″ x 28″ rendering, created by artist George Wright.
We believe this image was adapted from Williams’ imminent final Major League at-bat (Sept. 28, 1960), when he emphatically clouted a home run. (For Hall of Famers, only he and Mickey Cochrane share such distinction. However, we’re quick to point out that, contrary to the depiction, Williams wore long sleeves that day.)
Williams and Wright each signed in the broad white margin at the bottom. Appropriately, both signatures are in sharp pencil – each “trong>9-10” in quality. The condition of the print (numbered “281/1000”) is NM.
