Late 1980’s Cleveland Browns Game-Worn Helmet

Cleveland was at the top of the AFC for much of the 1980s decade. While the proud franchise wasn’t quite able to get over the hump, it did serve as a model of consistency.

This helmet was used by a player in the late 1980s. Because there are no numeric identifiers (written within or stickered on back, no warning sticker nor customized back bumper), we believe this was used in training camp. A number of surface abrasions vouch for use. Originally obtained from a former NFL equipment manager, the helmet has M155 (gel filled) padding on the inside and features clips from ’86 and ’88 and an ’87 OPO mask. Overall, a camp representation from the only NFL team which does not sport side decals on its helmets.
