Late 1980s Don Mattingly Game-Used Bat

Don Mattingly was the sparkplug of the Yankees during the 1980s-90s, and he used this Louisville Slugger model M1728 during the late 1980s. The uncracked bat measures approximately 34” and weighs 29.2 oz. It demonstrates excellent use with several ball/hit, ball (blue) transfer and rack marks, and Mattingly applied tape to the handle. As additional identifiers, his “23” jersey number appears on the knob and barrel end. (A “31” notation appears on the knob without explanation.) To note, there’s smoke damage present on the handle and barrel. Professional consultation would be the appropriate measure for repair.
