Late ’60s Dick McAuliffe Tigers Game-Worn Batting Helmet

Dick McAuliffe’s main contribution to the Detroit Tigers was his defense. Although he was a .247 lifetime hitter, McAuliffe was consistently on base and a surprising home run threat. This size “7 1/4″ batting helmet was worn by McAuliffe in the late ’60s. A healthy 8” crack (glue fixed but not held together entirely) runs from the back to the center of the crown. A Tigers team insignia is visible on the front. “3” is decaled on the verso. McAuliffe’s number is also written in black marker on the inside cushioning.
