Description
Presented is a Sports Illustrated Magazine from February 18, 2002 titled, “The Chosen One”. The subject of course was high school basketball wonder-kid, LeBron James. The hype was so strong that some fans believed he could be the next Air Apparent to Jordan.
Fresh off the school bus and in a fortunate turn of events, James did an exclusive autograph signing with a local sports memorabilia business in Akron, Ohio – Chapel Hill Sports. For the event, the owner of the store scoured the country for every edition of this special magazine he could get his hands on. Alas, it was impossible to find them locally.
The persistence was rewarded by having this superb newsstand edition autographed. James signed this in black felt tip pen (“9-10″) when he was only 17. For the shop, the inscription 23- Chapel Hill Sports ” was also penned by the hand of James.
Also included in the collection are (3) early cards of LeBron James. They are:
(2)Â 2002-03 Saint Vincent Saint Mary High School team card green (#5).
2003 Upper Deck LeBron James Holiday Season Winter League Card #LB-NPL03. The card measures approximately 5×7 and has some corner wear/small indent on verso.
Authentication: JSA Full Letter (for autographed magazine).
