Description
“Show me a good loser and I’ll show you an idiot.” Leo Durocher Leo the Lip was inducted to the Hall of Fame as the National League’s winningest modern manager, second only to John McGraw, but as a player, he was also a three-time All-Star, World Champion Yankee and Cardinal, and one of the finest shortstops of his era. As as manager, he never knew a losing season, leading the Dodgers and Giants to pennants and a World Championship. He was fiery, outspoken and knew how to win. In 1947, he had a primary role in erasing baseball’s color line, letting it be known that opposition to Jackie Robinson joining his club would not be tolerated. Jackie played, and Leo and the Dodgers won. Durocher, like many skippers of the era, preferred to stamp his signature, and as such, he’s a very tough autograph as a single. This is a premium example, boldly signed on the sweetspot of this minty ONL ( Feeney) Spalding ball. Signature was signed in blue ballpoint pen and grades 8-9 like Leo, it’s a winner.
