Description
Lewis Stone was an American movie actor best known for his role as Judge James Hardy in the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer’s Andy Hardy film series. He was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor in 1929 for The Patriot. He appeared in seven films with Greta Garbo.
Presented is an 11×14 black and white promotional photo of Stone. He signed it in silver pen (“7”) with the lovely inscription, “To Charlie with all best wishes – 1933” (best wishes portion is faded). This particular photo is more rare in that the back features film studio stamping. The MGM photo credit was given to Clarence Sinclar Bull. He was a portrait photographer who worked for movie studios during the “Golden Age of Hollywood”. He was head of the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer stills department for nearly forty years.
