Liberace Owned and Stage-Worn Black Stole with Mink Tails-With Original Provenance Letter-Directly Obtained Back Stage
Aside from his peerless musical talent, Liberace was also known for his extravagant costumes, personal charm, and the silver candelabrum, which was always perched on his piano. His flashy stage attire was characterized by lavish accents typified by rhinestones, glitter, capes, sequins, tuxedos, furs, smoking jackets, and outrageously more – always radiating an aura of exciting indulgence about him. Here available is just such a piece which was owned and worn by Mr. Showmanship himself. It came from a Las Vegas Hilton Hotel associate who had befriended Liberace’s manager, Seymour Heller.
This choice-quality scarf made of a fine silken blend is nearly 80” in length, it’s 10” wide, and has five black mink tails accentuating each end.
The owner wrote a provenance letter which reads, “In the 1970s, I was employed as Administrative Assistant to the Senior Vice President of the Hilton Hotels Western Region and Nevada Properties, which included responsibility for entertainers at the Las Vegas Hilton. Seymour Heller was Liberace’s manager. I also knew Seymour in another capacity as he was the godfather of the son of an entertainment journalist in England, and I was the godmother. In 1978, my husband and I were guests at the Las Vegas Hilton, and we were permitted to visit with Liberace in his dressing room after a performance. I admired the beautiful stoles and they were given to me. I wore them only once to the Beux Arts Ball in San Francisco. – Jenette Ryan.”
