This item originates from my famous collection, Dr. Lonnie Hammargren. I Lonnie Hammargren am a longtime Las Vegas resident since 1969. I was the Lt. Governor of Nevada from 1995-99 and was a candidate for Governor of Nevada in 1998. My eastside home was featured three times on Robin Leach’s: Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous. It was also featured on the Travel Channel’s show Vegas VIP Homes and a HGTV show, What’s With That House? It has since become a museum to Las Vegas past. It is usually open for tours on Nevada Day with 8000 attending the Centennial Celebration in 2005.
This is one of his wow-factor trademark wardrobe items. It’s a heavy full length stage worn tiger faux fur coat. Flamboyantly at 8×10 Liberace is embroidered in the inside in black with a golden candelabra. Tagging shows the costume designer as Ashton-Kochman Productions. There’s a handwritten name in faded marker on the tag as well – Kelly? It features a interior harness straps on the top portion because it is so heavy for dressing assistance. It measures 5’3″ tall with a fur lined 28″ collar and 12″ cuffs.
Liberace was a headline grabber throughout his career. The HBO production starring Matt Damon and Michael Douglas (Behind the Candelabra) only highlighted the interest in his story. Any collector looking for a one-of-a-kind statement piece can find it here from this one-of-a-kind, one-name-only entertainer ready for display.
I Obtained this stage worn coat directly from Liberace. I had a personal relationship with Liberace and this is why I was able to obtain some of his most wonderful worn items.
