Description
Nicknamed “The Bird”, Mark Fidrych was an American Major League Baseball (MLB) baseball pitcher. He pitched his entire career for the Detroit Tigers (1976–1980). In 1976, Fidrych led the major leagues with a 2.34 ERA, won the American League (AL) Rookie of the Year award, and finished with a 19–9 record. Shortly thereafter, injuries derailed his career, which ended after just five seasons in the major leagues.
Presented is an OAL (Budig) baseball autographed by Mark Fidrych. He signed it on the sweet spot in blue ballpoint pen (“8-9”) with the inscription, “The Bird”. The ball itself shows toning from age.
