Description

On May 17, 1998,  Daivd Wells pitched the 15th perfect game in baseball history, when he blanked the Minnesota Twins, 4–0. Wells attended the same San Diego high school, Point Loma High School, as Don Larsen, whose perfect game for the Yankees in the 1956 World Series was the only perfect game or no-hitter ever thrown in postseason play until 2010, and was until then the only perfect game thrown by a Yankee. David Cone would add a third Yankee perfect game in 1999. Wells claimed that he threw the perfect game while having a “raging, skull-rattling hangover”.

Presented is a display (15.75″ x 30″) which showcases David Wells and his Perfect Game on May 17, 1998. Wells autographed an 8×10 perfect game action color photo up top in blue felt tip (“9-10”) with the inscription, “P.G. 5-17-98”. Centrally in blue felt tip (“9-10”), Wells autographed a ticket stub from the game along with his catcher Jorge Posada. Wells also inscribed the ticket, “P.G. 5-17-98”.

Lastly, below the ticket is a jubilant 8×10 photo of Wells being embraced by his coach, Joe Torre from the game. Wells autographed it in blue felt tip (“9”) as well. What a remarkable display of Yankees history!
