Mickey Mantle Career HRs #361-62 1961 Yankees Program

SKU: 28721 Category:

In the opener of a doubleheader on Aug. 6, 1961, New York Yankees great Mickey Mantle slammed his 361st and 362nd career home runs to move past Joe DiMaggio into third place on the team all-time list. This is the scarce program from that historic game versus the Minnesota Twins at Yankee Stadium. The specimen is in VG condition with light-to-moderate creases and wear on the front and back covers. It’s what inside that counts, though, as the original owner scored the game diligently in pencil – all 15 innings of it. Readily visible are the Mick blasts – a two-run homer in the first inning and a solo job in the third, both at the expense of Pedro Ramos, the Twins starter. (The Yankees eventually prevailed by a 7-6 count). As it turned out, Mick wasn’t done. In the nightcap, Mantle solved Twins pitcher Al Schroll for the 363rd home run of his career and 100th RBI of the season, as the Bombers scored a 3-2 victory to complete the sweep of the twin bill.
