Mickey Mantle “My Favorite Hits” Record Album

To take him at his word, we assume that this composite of tunes – so recorded on an RCA LP – were a selection of Mantle’s favorites. It’s all okay. Mickey probably never cared much for Guns N’ Roses…leaning, instead, toward stuff like Begin the Beguine, The Last Roundup, and Lullaby of Birdland. RCA released this record album whose cover is commanded by a posed image of the great slugger in his Yankee Stadium milieu (one that’s likely unique to the producer). Hobby documentation dates this piece as 1969, but the album’s copyright is 1958. Printed on the reverse is a lengthy text, attributed to Mantle, as he reminisces his affinity for this music. The vinyl is included and though close examination reveals small abrasions on the labels of both sides, the record itself appears to be without damage. The cover is about VG/EX as a function of a partial split along the top edge, mild corner wear, and a superficial crease toward the lower right aspect.
