Mid-1920s “Honest Eddie” Murphy (Black Sox Player) Game-Used Bat

Description
"Honest Eddie" Murphy was part of the 1919 World Series Black Sox scandal that rocked Chicago. However, when eight of his teamates were accused of the unthinkable (fixin’ the Series), Eddie was not part of it. He was bestowed the nickname that even Sox owner Charles Comiskey wrote about in a letter sent to him. Presented is one of his game-used Louisville Slugger bat from the 1923-25 labeling period (he joined the Pirates in 1926). The bat shows excellent use with hit and cleat marks present. It measures 34" and weighs 35.6 oz. There’s a crack in it as well as a hefty chunk (10-1/2") shaved off the barrel. Overall, a great vintage game-used bat tied to one of few honest players after the abashment.
