Mike Schmidt’s 547 Home Run Signed Scorecard
Out of stock
On April 23, 1989 the Pirates hosted Philadelphia. An aging (and aching) Mike Schmidt took his turn at bat in the first inning and drilled a two-run homer against Pittsburgh’s John Smiley. It proved to be moot, however, as the Pirates went on to win the contest, 6-4. Documenting the event that day was long-time broadcaster, Lanny Frattare, whose complete scorecard for that game is now offered. Schmidt’s home run in this game was number 547 – next to the last in his Hall of Fame career. In tribute, Frattare prevailed upon the great slugger after the game that Schmidt might autograph the scorecard – which he graciously accommodated – placing a splendid felt tip signature (“10”) on the Phillies side of the document. It was nearly two years to the day earlier that Schmidt registered his landmark 500th home run against Don Robinson in the same Three Rivers Stadium. As should be expected, this scorecard (with Frattare’s authentication) is professionally detailed and remains in about EX+ condition.
