Description
Greg Clark played in 5 National Football League seasons and his entire career with the 49ers from 1997 to 2001. He was widely recognized as one of the premier blocking tight ends in the NFL. Injuries forced him into early retirement. Clark was recruited to Stanford University as a receiving tight end by Bill Walsh after being named a consensus First Team All-American from Ricks College. While at Stanford Clark credits much of his development as a blocker to his coach Pat Morris.
Presented is a game-worn Greg Clark San Francisco 49ers football helmet. The Riddell helmet features a gold shell with the classic 49ers logo decal on each side. The padding in the interior is worn with sweat/soiling. It shows heavy wear with soiling, scrapes, and hit marks on the exterior. The [size] Large helmet is intact. There’s also wear on the chinstrap and scrapes on the maroon facemask. Overall, a great vintage 1990s game-worn 49ers helmet. Clark died from a self-inflicted gunshot on July 7, 2021. Greg Clark had experienced “chronic traumatic encephalopathy-like” symptoms prior to his suicide, later revealed in March 2022 to be CTE Stage III.
