Multi-Signed “The October Heroes” (Mantle, Williams, Drysdale)
Out of stock
Among his countless works, Donald Honig penned this volume, “The October Heroes”, in 1979. The book itself is Near Mint, and its dust jacket is EX+-EX/MT. This particular copy, however, is unusually lavished with a host of famous autographs – about 80 of them, if we discount a few duplicates. Of these, 29 have been Hall of Fame immortalized. Nearly all of these autographs appear on blank end pages – front and back. Further, all but a couple were signed in felt tip (and in a variety of colors, no less). A meaningful percentage of these players were veterans of New York teams – Brooklyn, the Yankees, Giants and the ’69 Mets – but there’s a generous representation of the broader spectrum of Hall of Famers as well (29 of them, in fact). We care to emphasize that those signing who are non-enshrined are yet, almost in their entirety, high-statured stars. Among the Hall of Famer autographs appearing are Billy Herman, Sandy Koufax, Catfish Hunter, Pee Wee Reese, Reggie Jackson (distinctly legible), Hank Aaron, Willie Mays, Lefty Gomez, Luke Appling and Lou Boudreau. Also penning their identity in this book were Ted Williams, Mickey Mantle and Don Drysdale. And finally, we report that all of the signatures – to include the more prominent superstars – are clean and immediately legible, projecting to a strength of “9-10”.
