Lefty Gomez was one of baseball’s top pitchers in the 1930s and ’40s. The man who won the pitcher’s version of the Triple Crown (wins, ERA and strikeouts) in 1934 brilliantly signed the sweet spot of this OAL (MacPhail) ball in blue ballpoint. Gomez actually led the league in seven pitching categories that remarkable season. The signature is “7-8” and will make for a great display in a Yankees collection.
