November 13, 1982 – Ray Boom Boom Mancini vs. Deukoo Kim On-Site Fight Poster

On November 13, 1982 one of boxing’s great tragedies happened. Ray Boom Boom Mancini dominated the later rounds of his match-up against Korean challenger, Deukoo Kim. In the thirteeth round, Mancini hit Kim 39 times in a row but the fight continued into the next round. Mancini sent Kim to the canvas with a crushing right and subsequently Kim hit his head hard. Mancini was awarded the TKO. However, Kim collapsed fell into a coma and died four days later.

Presented is a rare on-site poster for the Caesar’s Palace bout on that day in 1982. The fight was broadcasted live to a national television audience but this is an on-site poster showcasing the ticket sale prices. The poster shows some surface wear and has some moisture damage on the lower portion (see photos). It measures 22×28 in the display.
