Original Warren Spahn Hartland Statue (w/Box, Brochure and Tag)

Out of stock

SKU: 47398 Category:

Because Hartland Plastics was situated in the outskirts of Milwaukee, it’s only natural that the first baseball figures produced by that company featured the locally popular Braves. In the late ’50s, the team was the jewel of the National League with heroes such as Aaron, Eddie Mathews and, the subject of this listing, Warren Spahn. Here available is an exemplary rendering of Spahn…complete with the original box and the coveted identification tag. The statue fairly meets all the requisites of the most discriminating Hartland statue hobbyist. It is a small measure short of perfect white, but certainly acceptable. More important, however, is that while the Spahn statue may number among the more common in the genre, this one excels in the critical considerations of preservation. To the ideal, there is absolutely no wear evident at any of those sensitive dimensions – particularly, at the elbows, the toes of the shoes, or the perimeter of the cap’s bill. Likewise, there’s perfect uniformity in the flesh-toned surfaces – no blemishes whatsoever. The piece stands solidly and the register of all the painted details is exact. As noted in our title, this statue is attended by the accessories…the original box and the identification tag. The box, we readily confess, is in reduced condition. The lid accompanies, but it’s detached, and there’s considerable repair – transparent tape applied to several tears. The tag, conversely, is in admirable condition. It’s characterized by a few very light creases, but no wear of note (a small stain on the blank reverse), and it is about EX.
