Pat Morita Signed Laser Disc The Next Karate Kid Inscribed with “Mr. Miyagi” – COA JSA

Pat Morita was a Japanese-American actor and comedian. He was known for his roles as Matsuo “Arnold” Takahashi on Happy Days, Mr. Miyagi in The Karate Kid film series, Captain Sam Pak on the sitcom M*A*S*H, Ah Chew in Sanford and Son, Mike Woo in The Mystery Files of Shelby Woo, and The Emperor of China in Mulan and Mulan II. He was the series lead actor in the television program Mr. T and Tina and in Ohara, a police-themed drama. The two shows made history for being among the few TV shows with an Asian American series lead. Morita was nominated for the 1984 Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of Mr. Miyagi in The Karate Kid.

The Next Karate Kid is a 1994 American martial arts drama film, and the fourth installment in The Karate Kid franchise, following The Karate Kid Part III (1989). It stars Hilary Swank as Julie Pierce (in her first theatrical appearance in a starring role) and Pat Morita as Mr. Miyagi.

The Next Karate Kid is directed by Christopher Cain, written by Mark Lee, produced by Jerry Weintraub, and with music by Bill Conti. It is the first film in the series not to feature Ralph Macchio in the lead role as Daniel LaRusso, and was released on September 9, 1994. The film served as the final release in the original Karate Kid continuity, until twenty-four years later when the first season of Cobra Kai was released.

Presented is a laser disc of The Next Karate Kid augographed by Pat Morita. He signed the front cover in blue felt tip pen (“9”) with a wonderfully rare character inscription,  “Have a Long & Happy Life – Mr. Miyagi.”
