Pete Maravich Game-Worn Practice Pants Jazz – COA 100% Authentic TeamGo Back
Out of stock
The New Orleans Jazz were officially a NBA franchise on June 7, 1974 as an expansion team. Prior to their inaugural season (1974-75), they traded for Pete Maravich who was an impact star player with the Atlanta Hawks. The legend of “Pistol” had already echoed through the city prior to the trade as he was a local LSU alumni. The Jazz gave up a few picks for “Pistol”, including two first-round draft picks, three second-round picks, and one third-round pick over the next three years.
There wasn’t much to lose in the deal as “The Pistol” had already enjoyed four outstanding years with Atlanta. Being in New Orleans (1974-79) allowed Maravich the opportunity to establish himself as one of the game’s most electrifying players. With the Jazz, he earned an impressive list of accomplishments including one scoring title (1976/1977), two All NBA First Team selections, and two All NBA Second Team selections.
Presented is a pair of Pistol Pete’s worn practice pants from the early era of the team in New Orleans. The practice pants are fashionably designed and in solid purple with snaps down both sides. The inner waistband showcases a D.H. Holmes New Orleans Sand Knit tag. The computer generated swatch features a “7” affixed. All are correct and original. Of note, the pants have tremendous elasticity in the waistband with a 35″ inseam. Because of the 35″ inseam (and our source), we are confident that these pants were made for Maravich in the early New Orleans team era and worn by him. They were collected after the New Orleans Jazz moved and was stored by the team source. It has never been offered until now and is ready for display in a top tier NBA collection.
