Pete Townsend was the driving force behind The Who, one of the most successful and influential British rock groups of the 1960’s. In his early days, Townsend was famous for his windmill approach to power chords and for smashing his guitar at the end of performances. Townsend has since been recognized as one of the more skilled songwriters in the business. The musical great signed this “Empty Glass” album April 10, 2000 at the Supper Club in Manhattan. He was holding a press conference to announce a new album and upcoming concert tour. The signature is impeccably executed (“10”) in black felt tip.
